Frequently asked questions
What Hivemind is, how it works, how your data is protected, and how to get access.
What is Hivemind?
Hivemind is a portfolio intelligence platform for individual investors. It maps the hidden supply-chain, ownership, and competitive relationships between public companies and translates that graph into a plain-English daily brief tailored to the holdings in your portfolio. Full overview at /how-it-works.
Who is Hivemind for?
Individual investors who manage their own portfolios — anywhere from a Roth IRA to a seven-figure self-directed account. If you've ever wished you could see what an institutional analyst sees about the names you hold, this is built for you.
Is Hivemind a registered investment adviser?
No. Hivemind is an informational product. Nothing in the Service constitutes investment, legal, or tax advice. We surface context — the relationships, news, and institutional flows around your holdings — and you make your own decisions. See the Terms of Service for details.
How does the Daily Brief work?
Every day, Hivemind reads the news, classifies each article by event type, and propagates each event through our knowledge graph to find which of your holdings it actually touches — directly or one hop away. The output is a short, wire-service-style narrative with annotated signals you can click into for the underlying article and the chain of reasoning. See a sample at /demo/brief.
How do I connect my brokerage account?
Through Plaid. After you sign up, you can either build a portfolio manually (tickers + weights) or click "Connect a brokerage" to link via Plaid. Plaid handles the authentication with your institution directly — we never see your username, password, or MFA codes. Access is read-only; we cannot initiate trades, transfers, or withdrawals.
How is my financial data secured?
Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest using KMS envelope encryption — a per-record AES-256-GCM key wraps the token, and that key is itself wrapped by a hardware-backed Google Cloud KMS key. Every decryption is audit-logged.
All traffic between your browser, our servers, and Plaid is over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell your personal information, your holdings, or anything else to third parties. The only processors involved are the ones required to operate the Service (Plaid for connectivity, Clerk for auth, Google Cloud for hosting, OpenAI for narrative generation). OpenAI only receives aggregated portfolio metadata and article text — never your account numbers, access tokens, or PII.
What does it cost?
Hivemind is launching with a simple monthly subscription. Founding members who join through the waitlist lock in a discounted rate at launch. Current pricing is shown on the waitlist page.
Can I try it without connecting a brokerage?
Yes. You can build a portfolio manually with tickers and weights, and the brief, x-ray, and entity terminal all work against that. Plaid is a convenience, not a requirement.
When can I sign up?
We're in private beta with founding members through launch. Join the waitlist to get an invite — invites are going out in batches.
How do I delete my account or disconnect a brokerage?
From Settings → Connections you can disconnect any linked institution; that calls Plaid's /item/remove endpoint and cascades a delete of the associated holdings on our side. From your account profile you can delete your Hivemind account entirely, which removes everything (portfolio, cached briefs, all connections).
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet — Hivemind is currently a responsive web app optimized for both desktop and mobile browsers. A native mobile app is on the roadmap.
What markets and regions do you cover?
Today the graph covers US-listed equities (S&P 500 plus broader coverage of mid- and small-caps where filings are available), ETFs and mutual funds via N-PORT-P lookthrough, and US-based institutional managers via 13F filings. International coverage is on the roadmap.
